The New York Post’s front page reported a record residential real estate sale today — Leonard Blavatnick‘s purchase of a $150 million condo (well, actually, three condos that he is said to be combining) atop The Mark on Madison Avenue. They neglected to mention that revenge is a dish best served cold. As reported in 740 Park, Blavatnick’s bid to buy an apartment there was thwarted when the co-op board stepped in and recruited bilionaire David Koch to snatch that prize out from under his nose. Read Curbed’s classic take on this transaction first, then follow their link to the Post. But before doing that, you should probably check out this UPDATE on the New York Observer’s The Real Estate. It appears a Posty suffered a bout of premature articulation this morning and Blavatnick may not be buying after all.
