The Supermodels, a four-part AppleTV+ series about Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington debuts next month with the foursome among eleven executive producers. Which reminded me of a kerfuffle over my 1992 New York magazine profile of Turlington, “Model Model,” which I’m posting here. The story caused a dramatic breach—apparently since healed–in the supe sisterhood. Somehow, I doubt the gist of that story will be told in the series. And neither will this one: I was covering the Paris fashion shows when that piece was published and the next day, model Veronica Webb, walking in the Comme des Garçons show, stopped in front of my seat to mouth the words, “You are in so much trouble.” Later, in a courtyard of the Louvre, Evangelista scolded me, “You’re evil, you’re evil, and you’re gonna get it.” Obviously, that was some time after the photo above was taken. But thanks for the super memories!
