You’ll want to watch it, Gerald Marie (shown on Ibiza with ex-wife Linda Evangelista) might want to watch out, and Jean-Luc Brunel and John Casablancas are likely twitching in their graves. It’s just been announced that Scouting for Girls: Fashion’s Darkest Secret, a blistering three-part documentary on the sexual abuse and trafficking of aspiring fashion models, will launch on Sky Documentaries and the streaming service Now on 24 June. An American air date has yet to be finalized but is said to be in the works. I’ve seen it, I’m in it, and it’s a powerful piece of work, based primarily on reporting by Lucy Osborne for England’s Guardian newspaper and the personal recollections of six models who were victims. It also features, for the first time anywhere, snatches of audio from my interviews, circa 1994, for the book Model: The Ugly Business of Beautiful Women, with Casablancas, Brunel, Marie and another long-dead agent, Claude Haddad.
